“Am I a Designer, an Illustrator, a Craftswoman or an Artist?”
Project Description: This papercraft illustration represents four real female artists who have profoundly influenced my understanding of the path I want to pursue. I see myself as a blend of these four creative realms, embodied by: The Designer – Es Devlin, the Illustrator – Felicie Haymoz, the Craftswoman – Dame Lucie Rie and the Artist – Frida Kahlo
Project Overview: A magazine article discussing the place of Art/Craft/Design & Illustration is being  published. You are being hired to create four illustrations for the article.
Design Problem: Design four characters that fits with the stereotype of; a Designer, an Illustrator, a Craftwoman, and an Artist.
Solution: This was one of my first projects when I began studying Graphic Design. At the time, I wasn’t confident in digital illustration, so I chose a more tactile approach using papercutting. With a strong background in photography, I decided to use it to portray these inspiring women.
Outcome/Value: As a woman, I wanted to learn more about female artists, illustrators, craftswomen, and designers through this project. It became a journey of discovery and tribute—illustrating, through papercraft, the role models I aspire to follow.
